San Isidro de Labrador Church, Lucban, Quezon
The story behind San Isidro de Labrador

San Isidro was a tenant farmer working on the farm owned by a Spaniard. He would constantly ponder why he had a lean harvest each time. It was barely enough to meet what was due the landlord.
One time, his landlord demanded that he give enough harvest to him. When he prayed to God, an angel descended to tell him that he would help him. At this time, all the farms in his neighborhood had already been planted except his. There was no source of irrigation.
The angel told him to strike his cane unto the earth. Then there was a spring of water. Still he was restless. He fell asleep. During the night he heard some noise. When he checked out what was going on, he saw angels working on his farm. When he woke up the following day, he saw his farm already planted.
San Isidro started to reap a bountiful harvest. Then out of shame, the Spanish landlord knelt down in front of San Isidro. Later on, this farmer was beatified as a saint.

How to go to Lucban, Quezon?
If you want to go to Pahiyas Festival, you need to go to Lucban, Quezon. There are many ways to get there. If you are coming from metro manila, you can take the South Luzon Express Way (SLEX) then take calamba exit, turn left and go to calamba crossing. At the intersection (calamba crossing), turn right and go straight passing by Los Banos - Bay - Victoria - Pila - Sta. Cruz - Pagsanjan. From Pagsanjan, turn right and you will pass by Cavinti - Louisiana - and finally Lucban. However during the festival, private vehicles are not allowed to passed the national highway so you will need to park your vehicle in a certain place and walk...Another alternative route is via Lucena City, which is familiar for those who are travelling to bicol province. From SLEX calamba exit turn right and proceed to Lucena City, then turn left and go to Tayabas - then Lucban, Quezon. If you will take this route, you will pass by "Kamay ni Hesus" which is getting popular because of Rev. Fr. Fallers healing mass.

Pahiyas Festival, Lucban, Quezon
May is the month of festivals in the Philippines. One of the most popular is the Pahiyas Festival in Lucban, Quezon.
Decorating the walls with "kiping" and products of their harvest ("Payas" or "Pahiyas" literal meaning).
Many tourists go to Lucban during this time.
