"Valugan beach manifests volcanic effusions from Mt. Iraya that is an important geologic formation in the archipelago. The geomorphic resources provided by Valugan beach provides rich information in the land formation of Batanes. The beach consists of smooth boulders of different sizes found along the beach at the easter foot of Mt. Iraya. They are andesites stones and cover the shoreline. These stones are hosts to several shell fish and mollusks that provide food and nutritions to the ivatans specially those from Basco. The stones provide a natural shore protection for the eastern side of Basco and they contribute substantially to the enhancement of the aesthetic value to the seascape and landscape of batan Island." - LGU Basco
